A loss…

Shea Barnhart, terrier mix

In February of 2025, the time came for me to say goodbye to my sweet girl, Shea. She was just a few weeks shy of 16 years old, and she was my heart. This girl was my teammate, my best friend, my girl who took care of me through the darkest times. I truly believe she stayed longer than she might otherwise have done because she knew how much I’d been through and she wanted to be certain I came through the other side, ready to stand on my own.

As anyone who has been loved by a dog, they are truly a gift. The love is unmatched. The care is sincere and real and palpable. They wriggle into your heart and they live there permanently. Always. Through thick and thin, through life and death.

I will forever miss Shea, but I still feel her with me.
