Thrillers and Suspense - New Genre for Me

It finally happened - I finished my new novel which is a departure from the YA fantasy you may already have read from me. The new book is a female serial killer, and I loved writing it. It’s a bit of Dexter meets Gone Girl — are you intrigued? The working title is Scaled Justice, but that will change. As it is, it sounds too much like a legal thriller, which it definitely is not.

The bad news is it’s “too long.” But my excellent agent is giving it a read and will offer advice as to how it might be shortened (read: more publisher-friendly), and made stronger.

And I will add that, one way or another, this book will get out into the world — I love it that much. No filing-forever-in-a-metaphorical-drawer for this one.

So, more to come! But in the meantime, I’m celebrating reaching the finish line. I had to stretch my brain in new directions, writing in a new genre, and it was painfully awesome. :)
