Apple One to One and Bonus

I’m a Mac. Once upon a time I was a PC but it was a miserable relationship. The crashing, the locking up, the blue screen of death drove me crazy. When the time came to buy a new computer, we did the research, asked the questions of those in the know and got ourselves to the Apple store. That was six years ago and since then all has been right with the world. At least the world related to our home computing.

That first visit to the Apple store resulted in the purchase of an iMac, the desktop version of a Mac. Since then we’ve also purchased Apple TV (love it!), I have an iPhone (love it!) and last year I bought myself a MacBook Pro (love it!).

When you buy a computer from Apple you have the opportunity to purchase One to One service which basically gets you unlimited access to all sorts of training and assistance for one year. If you’re new to Mac it is an excellent benefit; and if you’ve used Mac for a number of years it is still an excellent benefit.

I could go on about all that One to One offers you but I don’t want to bore you with the details. Just know that I highly recommend it – it is definitely one of the best values for your money that you’ll find anywhere, especially when it comes to computer training.

I do, however, want to share a tidbit that I learned yesterday in my One to One session. I attended an introduction to Aperture session because I’m thinking about purchasing the software to further expand my photography hobby. The session was excellent and I am excited about all the cool stuff Aperture can do.

As we were talking I mentioned that I wished there were these kinds of courses for other software programs, outside of the world of Apple. My Apple Genius then said, “Well, have you been to Lynda’s training?” I thought he must mean someone at the store that did other training classes but I wasn’t sure. He then clarified that he meant Lynda.com. Lynda.com! This is a site where you can get online training on just about any software program you can imagine. And it is very reasonably priced. Fantastic!

Did you know about Lynda.com? My alter-ego, WebWendy, is hanging her head in shame for her unawareness.
