U2 Too Good

We were fortunate enough to attend the U2 concert in Denver on May 21st and wowee-wow-wow-wow was it good!

The wait for the concert was looooonnnnnggg — I’d actually purchased the tickets two years, yes, TWO YEARS ago. I participated in early ticket sales thanks to my membership in the U2 fan club and that alone was quite ahead of schedule (about 10 months) but then Bono hurt his back and further delayed the concert. I’m just happy they were electronic tickets because I’m not sure I could have kept track of paper ones for two years.

But back to the concert. The Fray opened for U2 and they were excellent. But then U2 took the stage and I was mesmerized, enthralled and bedazzled! We sang, we danced, we rocked out. And it was GOOD.

Like many, U2 has long been part of the soundtrack of my life. And I love them. I drift away from them at times as I explore other music but, wow, seeing them live truly reignites that electric spark that their music gives me. I love them. Have I mentioned that?

Sadly, seeing them live also reminds me of one of the major regrets I have in life. Many moons ago they were playing in Salt Lake City and me and my bf Kelly could have seen them, live, in person and in a small venue. This was the War tour and they weren’t all huge yet. It would have been fantastic. But it was also the night of our high school graduation and we thought it would be better to hang out with our friends.

We were wrong.

We ended up doing a scavenger hunt instead of singing Sunday Bloody Sunday at the top of our lungs with Bono. A scavenger hunt. No Bono. Ugh.

It still hurts me to think about it. But I love you, U2!

What about you? Do you have any “why didn’t I go to that concert??” moments in your life?
